HEIRLOOM FURNITURE
FROM TREE TO TABLE
OUR STORY
Based in Dummerston, Vermont, Lanterman Woodworks specializes in milling wide slab lumber and building custom furniture to give new life to trees at the end of their life cycle.
By working with homeowners, tree services, municipalities and local sawyers, quality lumber can be salvaged from felled trees that hold intrinsic beauty and value. This process preserves a precious resource through handcrafted heirloom wood products that are truly one of a kind.
With a background in traditional post and beam construction, Lanterman Woodworks also offers custom timber frame accessory buildings, pergolas and entryways built with hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery.
Integrating traditional building techniques and modern practices, Lanterman Woodworks creates heirloom quality furniture and custom woodworking that is built to last for generations.

About the Owner:
Evan Lanterman grew up in southern Vermont with a strong interest in art and design and their inherent relationship to nature. He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 2001 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design and made Rhode Island his home for over twenty years before moving back to Vermont with his family. After his time at RISD, Evan spent the next three years building hand-cut timber frame homes and accessory buildings with a local timber framing company. In 2004, Evan began to work independently as a design/build general contractor specializing in frame to finish carpentry. He quickly became known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail. Over time, Evan began to focus on building furniture from locally sourced materials as he started milling wide slab lumber from salvaged trees. Working with such unique material gives him the opportunity to design and create one of a kind, heirloom quality furniture. Strengthened by Evan's comprehensive background, Lanterman Woodworks provides full service custom woodworking from concept to creation.
